The Demand for Web Developers

Based on projections by the Brookings Institution, by 2020 there will be 1 million more tech jobs than there are applicants--a net loss of $1 billion for the U.S. economy.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of employed web developers is projected to grow by 15 percent by 2026. That’s more than twice as much job growth as in all other occupations put together.

Hiring for roles like Software Engineer, Junior Software Engineer, and Front-End Engineer, companies like LinkedIn, Go Daddy, and Shopify are rapidly growing and building out their software development teams, and Cal Poly Extended Education Coding Bootcamp grads will be well equipped for these roles and many others.

For web developers new to the field, a strong portfolio is the next best thing to real-world experience. So in this course, instead of focusing on grades, you’ll focus on building your portfolio—yet another opportunity to Learn by Doing.

And because knowing how to get the job is just as important as knowing how to do the job, career development is woven directly into the curriculum by way of seminars, mock technical and behavioral interviews, and one-on-one career coaching with experts.
